About us

money advice plus logomoney advice plus services is a registered charity based in Eastbourne, Sussex providing money and debt advice by phone nationwide.

Background

MAPS was originally established in 1994 as "Direct Debt Line" to meet the growing need for debt advice in the South East with support from East Sussex County Council and the National Association of Citizens' Advice Bureau. National Lottery funding helped the charity develop, as did working closely with the Consumer Credit Counselling Service to provide debt advice to a range of their clients until 2006.

Over the last three years we have developed specialist money and debt advice services to help support low-income clients living in social rented homes. We have extensive experience of working with social housing landlords on a range of projects to help reduce debts, improve money management and to support wider social and financial inclusion objectives.

Our mission is as follows:

"Money Advice Plus Services will work in partnership with other agencies to provide free, independent, confidential advice services to help people deal with debts and manage their money more effectively."

2009/2010 Development

We are actively developing our money advice services by expanding our partnership work with others. In November 2009 we started an exciting new three year project with the national charity Women's Aid. Currently we work with fifteen different partner agencies on a range of funded services.

Our Business and Development Plan for 2010-2012 sets out plans to grow and develop the charity. The Chief Executive and Trustee Board are leading on this development. We will be identifying new areas of work with a range of partners to include utility companies, employment and training providers, local councils and other specialist agencies.
